In the spirit of the Psalmist, the Music Ministry of the Cathedral of St. Jude welcomes you to our parish family, and to our music department! 

 We offer many fine choirs and ensembles representing various age groups. Membership is open to ALL parishioners.  The only prerequisite needed is the willingness to attend regularly scheduled rehearsals.  No prior voice ability or instruction is required.

CATHEDRAL CHOIR

 This, our premier choir, rehearses every WEDNESDAY from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm in the Meehan Music Room of the parish center.  This group is open to all adults and interested youth of all voice types and abilities.  This group currently numbers @ 40-60 members, and ministers at various Masses on the weekends.  The Cathedral Choir serves as minister of music at important seasonal Masses, such as Christmas Midnight and Easter Vigil.

CATHEDRAL SINGERS

This smaller group features keyboards, guitars, flute, and various percussion instruments, as well as a small  choir.  This fun and low-key group  ministers at various Mass times such as 4:00pm Saturday, 9:30am Sunday,  and 6:30pm Sunday night.  Rehearsals are held prior to each Mass in the Meehan Music Room of the parish center.  (There are also occasional rehearsals on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm). 

SUNDAY NIGHT SINGERS

This smaller group features keyboards, guitars, drums, and various percussion instruments, as well as a 2-part choir. We extend a special invitation to teens and young adults to join us in this group which ministers at our 6:00pm Sunday Mass. However we still welcome ALL ages and voice types! Rehearsals are held prior to the Sunday night Mass, at 5:00pm in the Meehan Music room of the parish center.

 CATHEDRAL CHORISTERS

This is our premier children’s choir, open to all students in Grades 1 through 5 who are either students at Saint Jude School, or registered in the St. Jude Religious Education Program.  The Choristers sing at various times on occasional weekend Masses, as well as at occasional School Masses, (held in the Cathedral each Wednesday at 8:15am during school months.)  Due to our increasing numbers, this group has been divided into two sub-groups, the Primary Choristers and the Secondary Choristers. Primary Choristers includes our first and second graders. while Secondary Choristers includes our third, fourth, and fifth graders. Both groups rehearse every Monday during the school months from 3:15pm – 4:15pm in the Meehan Music Room of the parish center.

CATHEDRAL JUNIOR SCHOLA

This is our premier middle school choir, open to all girls in Grades 5 through 8 who are either students at Saint Jude School or registered in the St. Jude Religious Education Program. The Junior Schola sings with the Choristers and also at special liturgies and events throughout the year.  This group rehearses every Monday during the school months from 3:15pm – 5:00pm in the Meehan Music Room of the parish center.

CHERUB CHOIR

This is one of our newest children’s choirs, open to all students in Grades Pre-K and K who are either students at Saint Jude School or registered in the St. Jude Religious Education Program. The Cherub Choir sings at various times on occasional Sundays. This group rehearses every Sunday during the school months from 10:45am – 11:20am in the Religious Education rooms in St. Jude School. Pre-K and K students at St. Jude School will rehearse during their regularly scheduled music class, so there is no extra rehearsal time for these students.

CATHEDRAL SCHOLA

The Cathedral Schola is a professional vocal ensemble with membership by Audition only. This small group of mixed voices will raise the bar for our Music Ministry Department by serving at all Diocesan liturgical events held at the Cathedral. Rehearsals are at various times throughout the year in the Meehan Music Room of the parish center.

CATHEDRAL CANTORS

Our parish cantors lead the congregation in song at all weekend masses, and also at certain daily masses.  Cantors rehearse privately with the music director, and are all members of one of our choirs.  This specialized ministry requires extra rehearsal/practice time, which is determined by the cantor in cooperation with the music director.

 OTHER MUSICAL OPPORTUNITIES AT THE Cathedral of Saint Jude

Instrumentalists:  Our music ministry is ALWAYS in need of instrumentalists such as guitarists, pianists, brass, woodwinds, strings and percussion.  Contact the Music Director for details!

Volunteers:  Our music ministry is ALWAYS in need of volunteers to help out with our Choristers, Jr. Schola, and Cherub Choirs. Contact the Music Director for details!
