The Cathedral
School of St. Jude is a member of the National Junior Honor
Society. Every February, the Chapter Advisor compiles
a list of all students who are scholastically eligible for
membership. To be scholastically eligible, 7th
and 8th
grade middle school candidates must have a cumulative
scholastic average of 90 earned over a period of at least
one semester at the Cathedral School of St. Jude. Those
eligible for membership will be given an opportunity to
complete a Student Activity Information Form.
Those forms will be used to obtain information directly from
the student regarding leadership, citizenship, and service
activities. These forms are not, however, to be
considered as “applications” for membership.
A five-member Faculty Council, appointed by the
Principal, will then meet to select new members. After discussion, a
vote will be taken on each eligible candidate. A majority vote will
determine those who will be offered membership. The Chapter Advisor
does not vote. The vote will be based on the candidate’s demonstration
of outstanding performance in the areas of leadership, service, citizenship
and character. A letter will be mailed to all parents/students
regarding those selected. An induction ceremony will then be planned
and conducted.
